05 Jan Heels and Wheels: Checking off To-do Lists in My (Loaner) 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage
I know, I know; you are so over the holidays. It’s 2016 and you’re ready to plug your depleted savings account (hey, you can’t put a price on love;)), burn off all those hearty family dinners and recommit yourself to taking over the world. And, I’m right there with you.
I am so absolutely ready to punch 2016 in the face and kick this year into high gear. Don’t worry, I am not the least bit violent. I’m way to level-headed (& cute) for all that. I’m just jazzed up on endorphins from all the morning workouts I’ve been doing at Local Barre. Gotta keep it tight in the New Year, right?
Part of the reason, I’m so excited to get this year started is because I was able to check all my end-of-year 2015 tasks off my to-do list. I’m sure you had one of those lists too, everyone does. Most years, I have one or two straggler items left on my list and I (shamefully) have to start the New Year by finishing up stuff from the previous one.
Not this year. This year I stepped out of my comfort zone and zoomed through all my tasks in style.

The good people at Mitsubishi gifted loaned me a 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage for a week to try out. So, I got to take a vacation from my normal modes of city transportation – subways, walking and Uber – and join the driving ranks.

The color alone (Plasma) made me smile and the compact size and easy handling on the road made the package complete. I didn’t have any trouble parallel parking this bad-boy anywhere I went and appreciated being able to stay warm and dry when the sky opened up a few times during the week.

The biggest to-dos I had to complete for 2015 were hauling tasks and of course having a car made it a breeze. I got all my holiday gifts to Fed Ex for shipping, transported all my wedding gifts to my in-laws for storage and dropped my boots off to the cobbler (walking in the city is hard on heels). I even transported and donated the 15 bags of clothing that have staring at me for months to Goodwill.

Since I completed my end of year to-do list; the hubby and I treated ourselves to authentic Dim Sum at Golden Unicorn in Chinatown. As we zipped through the Holland Tunnel, we got to experience the first-time shock of the $15 toll.

After waiting in line for a few minutes (the only time native New Yorkers wait on line, is for good food), we stuffed our faces full of sticky pork buns and yummy treats that I can’t name, but can recognize on site. We then headed home and started planning how we would ring in the New Year.

Being able to start the New Year with a clean slate is such an awesome feeling. I may make renting a car part of my holiday season ritual, so that every end of the year closeout can run this smoothly.
