Think You Deserve A Holiday: Happy American Business Women’s Day

Women Team PlayersSummer is barely over, but all the entrepreneurs I know are focused on holiday and ensuring a strong 4th quarter. The year has flown by so fast many of you haven’t even taken that much needed break away from work. We’ll if you’re feeling like there should be a holiday celebrating all the effort you put in growing your business, you’ve in luck.

Today is American Business Women’s Day. The day was established by congressional proclamation in 1983 and is a day set aside to honor and reflect upon the contributions and accomplishments of the millions of women in the work force and the millions of women business owners in the U.S. Sorry guys, this one is especially for us females.

The American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) is the organization responsible for starting this national day of recognition for business women. This national professional group brings together business women of diverse occupations and provides opportunities to help them grow personally and professionally through leadership, education, networking and national recognition. ABWA has more than 450 chapters across the United States and holds more than 300 events each year.

Fun ways to celebrate the day include: treating yourself to a device free lunch (no smart-phones or laptop), tweeting words of inspiration to other business women paving the way or the next generation of female business leaders and taking a moment to reflect on how much you’ve accomplished. If you won’t bask in your wins on a holiday designed for just that, when will you?

Here’s hoping you have a Happy American Business Women’s Day. Next year, don’t forget the cake.

à bientôt
