Finding the perfect nude lipstick is a challenge for women of all complexions, but is doubly difficult for women of color. For years, major makeup brands have opted out of creating shades that would compliment darker skin tones and Black women have been left to mix their own shades or seek out hard to find independent lines that catered to out melanin kissed skin. It was a frustrating process, to say the least, but it looks like some makeup brands are starting to pay attention.

Rimmel London just released the new Kate Moss Nude Lip collection with the promise of providing a “chic shade for everyone.” Designed by the supermodel the 10 shade Collections offers lipsticks in delicate pinks, subtle apricots, cashmere beiges and rich toffee tones. So, I decided to test all the shades in the Collection to see if the line lived up to its promise.

Some shades looked frightening awful, but others looked positively fab. Check out the outcome of each shade below:

#040 – A Pale Nude

Looks Terrible on me.

#041 – A Pink Nude 

Pretty in pink I am not in this shade.

#042 – An Apricot Nude

I couldn’t even crack a smile in this shade.

#043 – A Tan Nude

Ok, now we’re getting somewhere.

#044 – a Coral Nude

I could rock this one with the right blush and shadow.

#045 – a Rose Nude

Not nude on me, but totally cute.

#046 – An Olive Nude

Not great, but not awful either.

#047 – A Brandy Nude, #048

No quite nude on me, but a rich shade that was fun to rock.

#048 – A Dark Nude

Loved this shade. I could rock it all day.

#049 – A Coffee Nude

This shade was my second favorite. It looked fabulous on my skin tone.

So, I guess the Kate Moss Nude Lip Collection is a winner in my book. I’d love to see Rimmel London extend the line to include some shades for women darker than me, but this is a great nude Collection to try. You can pick up the full Collection exclusively at Walmart and each tube runs $5.79.
