Cool Fashion Tech: Dress That Changes Color to Convey Wearer’s Emotions

If fashion tech designer Eef Lubbers and fashion designer and researcher Malou Beemer have their way, your colleagues will never again have to guess how you feel about work or them “borrowing” your stapler. The designer duo have collaborated on Kimbow, an interactive dress which senses your posture and changes color to amplify the message your body brings across.

Standing with your hands on your hips and your elbows projecting outwards causes the thread structure of the dress to changes color from a deep red to a bright red.

Like a slow moving digital screen, the movement of the color pattern attracts more attention to the wearer, enhances the appearance of the posture and potentially increases the confidence of the wearer.

There is no word yet on when this prototype will be coming to a dress shop near you, but you can spend the day wondering if you’re ready for everyone around you to be able to decipher your silent movements.
