26 Aug Salute The Runway: 15 Servicewomen to Walk the Catwalk of NYFW
NYFW kicks off at the tents at Lincoln Center in a week with a special show honoring our service men and women on September 3. As part of Salute The Runway, Fifteen military servicewomen will wear different variations of a women’s wardrobe staples, including the always fashionable little black dress. The show culminates a program held at military bases around the country raising awareness of the challenges facing military servicewomen as they transition back to civilian life, sponsored by Little Black Dress Wines and Fatigues to Fabulous.
The runway show will highlight the critical role our women soldiers have served in our Nation’s military, and support the servicewomen in all aspects as they re-enter civilian life. The Little Black Dress Wines and Fatigues to Fabulous partnership enables women veterans to build their confidence by being appropriately dressed for any occasion as they re-enter the workplace with the help of the little black dress. Participating design houses include Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Carmen Marc Valvo, Norisol Ferrari and Mara Hoffman.
The models participating in the shows have been selected from the ranks of female veterans and active duty members. Donations to Fatigues to Fabulous can be made through event co-sponsor Shout. Shout is an App based, micro donation platform designed to raise funds for organizations in a fun, simple to use and socially connected way. The will go live on September 3rd in conjunction with the “Salute the Runway” event and will be free to download on ITunes.
Our men and women in uniform deserve our gratitude and on-going support as they re-enter civilian life. This seems like a fun a event to thank them for all they have done for us.
