I’ve never been one to shy away from color and have been known to rock the brightest of shades at work and at play ;). Bold colors are a fashion do and any woman can totally pull off the look flawlessly.
Here’s a few of my favorite tips and tricks, so you can slay in bold hues everywhere you go.
Layer with Neutrals – Keep yourself from being washed out by a colorful skirt or dress by layering it over neutral tights. These very black opaque tights are a perfect base for my bold color look. I like a really opaque (none see-through) look and achieved this by laying two pairs of semi-opaque tights on top of each other. This is a trick I’ve been using to survive cold winter months for years since I hardly ever wear pants. Your legs will be so warm;).
I also paired with my heeled black booties to extend my leg length and continue the neutral color.
Stay Proportional – If you’re short – like me – then break up bold colors by adding a neutral waist length coat. This will help your outfit look balanced since there are clear color start-and-stop points. This faux-leather moto jacket helps accomplish that in this look. I got this one on clearance at Aeropostale over the holiday and is sold out now. But, I found a similar one on Amazon for $39.
Accessorize – Well selected accessories can play up or tone down the colors of your outfit. I added a neutral gold belt, black choker, colorful mirrored sunglasses and a patterned gray clutch to this bright look. None of them match each other, yet they all work together to highlight the colors in my top and skirt.

Colorblock – Instead of wearing one bold color, mix it up, by wearing two complementary colors. Yellow and purple sit opposite each other on the color wheel and therefore balance each other out. This popping yellow peplum skirt looks blends nicely with this printed purple top.

Most of All, Do You – Select colors and pieces that you love and make you smile. You’d be surprised how a little confidence can up the wattage of any outfit. If you feel good in a bold colors, rock it out.
