07 May Business & Blogging: 5 Brand Building #BloggerTips That Can Help Any Business
Recently, I spoke at Blogger Week UnConference in Washington, DC and it was awesome. I love DC and the entrepreneurs are completely taking that town by storm. Blogging is just one of the many platforms that entrepreneurs are using to amplify their voices and expertise and showcase their passions and the best bloggers are making serious money doing it.
The panel I moderated – Don’t Quit Your Day Job Yet-Building A Successful Blog While Maintaining A Full-time Gig – was on fire. The panelists Skye Charlie, Michell Clark and Chantl Martin shared their top tips for creating reputable brands, blogs and , of course, revenue streams and everyone in the room was taking notes. This was just one of the many amazing panels that took place. The best thing about the the information that was shared during the UnConference is that it can help entrepreneurs in any field grow their business.
I took plenty of notes for all you bloggers and entrepreneurs out there and culled the list down to my favorite five tips.
Here they are:
Blogger Tip 1: Never Let Your Mood Keep You From An Opportunity.
How it Applies to All Everyone: You’re a brand. The energy and attitude you give off will impact what opportunities flow your way. Don’t let a bad mood keep you from showing up and showing out the best parts of who you are.
Blogger Tip 2: Build a Tribe Around You.
How it Applies to All Everyone: Groups are stronger than individuals. That’s a fact. Look for ways to partner with other bloggers or businesses to amplify your value to potential readers (or clients). This could be starting your own blogger network or approved business vendor group. The more you work together the more value you’ll create for each other.
Blogger Tip 3: Never Be Afraid to Ask Questions.
How it Applies to All Everyone: It’s impossible to know everything and saying, “I don’t know” does not make you look weak. The quicker you ask about the things you unsure about the faster you can move on to the next stage. You’d be surprise how often pride keeps people from success.
Blogger Tip 4: Don’t Be Afraid of Haters. Criticism Makes You Better.
How it Applies to All Everyone: Trolls exist everywhere in life and cannot be without trying to tear someone else down. Instead of letting their jabs get to you, use them to make your writing, ideas or business better. You don’t have to respond to their – to put it nicely…feedback, but should leverage any part of it that is rational to strengthen your words, position, or expertise.
Blogger Tip 5: Approach Your Blog Like A Beat.
How it Applies to All Everyone: You should be very clear on what you write about or your business focus. Spend the time growing your expertise in that area, so that everyone, including you, is clear on your brand mission and purpose.
Try incorporating one or more of these tips in your blog or business planning (ahem, especially #4) and see how much it helps you grow. Happy building
