Celebrity makeup artists know better than anyone that beauty, like fashion is a form of expression. The perfect shade of lipstick or eye shadow can provide the boost of confidence a person needs to walk the red carpet or land a dream job. Helping people getting ready to take on their most important moments in life is no small feat and can sometimes require the patience of the saint.
So, what do you do after you spend more than a decade building all that spiritual good will? If you’re pro makeup artist to the stars Alexandra Rutkay, you start a clothing line.
Launched in 2011, Karma Mob is a brand focused on spreading love, purpose, and good intentions with its comfortable and stylish apparel. Rutkay kicked off her line with a collection of chic shoe decals called, Arch Tags that transform any pair of heels into power pumps. The popular accessory is a must have for fashionistas, trendsetters, savvy shoppers and brides looking to make a statement. “I decided to give the every woman a way to dress up her soles,” said Rutkay.
She has also expanded the fashion line to include inspirational tees, and pullovers as well as a designer craft kits, Gemz and Sunniez which promote creativity and fashion by letting girls create their own shoe designs. It’s not every designer who would give up the artistic reigns, but Rutkay believes her customers “are people who care about style, quality, and the message they are putting out to the world. They want to be a part of a community and thrive on connecting with others.”
The New York City transplant is seeing high-early interest on her newest line additions. Considering her sunny outlook on life, it is not hard to see why her business is doing so well. Rutkay believes “our actions both positive and negative have consequences” and she prefers “to focus on the positive.”
Everyone, especially business owners, need that type of upbeat energy in their lives. Karma Mob items start at $7.00. Check some of my favorite Karma Mob picks below for a quick energy boost today.
