Finding the perfect foundation is like searching for a needle in a haystack for most women and is damn near impossible for luscious brown skinned women like me;). I usually buy several shades and mix them together to get a foundation hue closest to my natural tone, which can be expensive and inefficient at times. Plus, I always feel a tiny bit bitter about having to pay for products that say they were made for me and then having to spend time making them right at home.
Well it looks like me (and millions of women) can stop all the arts and crafts hacks on our foundation and still get the custom shade we need thanks to a little tech innovation.
Adorn, a new 3D foundation pen, will match, mix and print out the perfect hue for women of all ethnicity. At the touch of a button, the pen’s inbuilt scanner does a color analysis of the users face. It then uses results to blend multi-hued foundation shades in the cylinder of the pen. Once the perfect shade has been achieved, it prints the bespoke color base straight onto the user’s fingertips.
The Adorn pen has the capacity to create more than 75,000 shades of foundation, meaning the odds of matching your shade are probably 75,000 times better than selecting a one in a poorly lit and poorly stocked drug store.
Adorn 3D Foundation Pen is currently available in five colors for pre-order for $139 and will ship Q2 of 2016. The foundation cartridges run $20.
I’m already excited for this for the simple fact that it will take the guess work out of buying foundation and save me time mixing shades to match my skin tone. I’m definitely looking forward to testing out this makeup tool as soon as it is released and will post an update of the results.
